TOMATO WAR MILLBROOK

How it all started:

In 2016, our cofounder Philip Mactaggart hosted the very first Millbrook Tomato War in an effort to raise funds for Kulen Outreach. Inspired by the famous Spanish tradition La Tomatina in Valencian Bruñol, he generously invited 150 adults and kids to enjoy a wonderful afternoon making a happy mess of themselves. The event was such a great success that it quickly developed into an annual happening, expanding with each edition.

THE EVENT

Our Tomato War is organized annually in September and takes place in Millbrook, New York. A peaceful, lush green property transforms into a war zone for a day, hosting a diverse army of Tomato Warriors. Armed to the teeth with overripe tomatoes, they compete in the Children's Tomato War or the Adult's Tomato War in a 'Capture the Flag' style battle. Afterwards they make peace over a delicious lunch, evaluating the battle and congratulating the winners.
